Tirzepatide
A dual GIP and GLP-1 agonist with the strongest published weight results to date.
What it is
Tirzepatide activates two gut hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1, rather than GLP-1 alone.
How it works
The GLP-1 side reduces appetite and slows gastric emptying. The GIP side appears to improve how fat tissue handles energy and may soften the nausea that comes with GLP-1 activity, which allows higher effective dosing.
What it is researched for
- Weight reduction
- Type 2 diabetes control
- Obstructive sleep apnoea in people with obesity
Research status
FDA approved as a prescription medicine. Research-grade material is not the approved product.
What to watch for
- Nausea, vomiting, and constipation, especially after dose increases
- Rapid muscle loss without adequate protein and resistance training
- Dehydration, which is common and underestimated
- Same thyroid tumour contraindication as semaglutide
Storage
Refrigerate, protect from light, never freeze. Label the vial with the exact water volume you added.
Common questions
Is tirzepatide stronger than semaglutide?
In head to head trial data, tirzepatide produced greater average weight loss. It also carries the same digestive side effects.
Why do women over 50 respond differently?
Lower oestrogen changes where fat sits and how easily muscle is kept. Protein intake and lifting matter more in this group, not less.
